An Art Professor of mine once said, "You can not create out of nothing, you must fill your mind with information and images and use those things to come up with something new." With this in mind, look through every bride magazine you can get your hands on, then look through books, other fashion magazines, and the internet.
Shop around. Trying on different shapes to see how silhouettes look and feel is a great way to understand what you want and what fits your body style.
The first meeting involves looking at pictures the bride loves and discussing just what is desired. I show fabric possibilities and offer advice if desired. We draw up dresses and show the different directions you could go. I give you an estimate of the costs and the time table involved. It is a great time to be creative and come up with something perfect and incredible!
Each bride is different, thus the process changes to match her personality. We can map out the specific dress to every last detail, or wait and let the dress we designed express what details should be included. In my experience, leaving some of the details up in the air paves the way for something so much more incredible than anyone could comprehend.
About five fittings are held during the three to four week process. We are located up South Fork Canyon in Provo Canyon which has the added benefit of being a beautiful drive. All meetings are by appointment.
Please bring mothers, friends, and family and let them be involved. I find the creation of a wedding dress is delightful to those involved and enhances the whole wedding experience.
I take each project very personally. I will not rest until the gown exceeds expectations and all details are perfect. The "rest" part is quite literal. I find that I usually wake up with some great idea that will enhance the dress and make it whole.
I do work with out of town clients who spend five to six days in the area, and while they are enjoying a great ski vacation (with a fitting everyday), their wedding gown is being created.
